Law is Good

Law is Good

Last week, whenever we discussed the Sabbath principles for our Christian lives today, a comment was made that “the Sabbath, has kept the Jews better than the Jews have kept the Sabbath.” I meant by that that God’s commandment to take time to rest, reflect, and worship, has blessed the Jewish nation immensely.

 After reflecting on that comment for some time, one thing that I’ve recognized in my life is that God has always kept me better than I have kept him. Particularly, His laws have always been good to me, better than I have been good at keeping his law. This was even true of the Mosaic law that gets so much hate (even from me!) sometimes:

“Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” (Rom. 7:12)

 I thank God that he has set limits on my behavior, because I have learned he is only protecting my future. Not just a future in heaven, but when I walk with Him, he establishes a better future here on this earth (John 10:10).

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

 Psalm 1:1-3

I Love You,
