A Great Blessing

A Great Blessing

The Lord has given us a great many blessings through His Son and His word. The blessing I want to share with you today is the blessing of our Church Family. “Church Family” is a word we often use to describe our brothers and sisters in Christ. This is a blessing that serves both a spiritual and earthly purpose. “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 We are called as Christians to support one another, to be an encouragement. We are called to follow after Christ together because the Lord knows the benefit we can provide for each other: good examples to follow, words of love and encouragement, and support for those in difficult times. Of course, sometimes this love needs to be   extended towards more earthly matters: feeding the hungry, housing brothers and sisters who’ve lost their homes, and getting together for a meal. The next time you gather together to hear the word of the Lord, take a look at the people around you, these people aren’t just here for their own spiritual lives but to also help support yours. “The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31 This is an amazing blessing our Father in heaven has given us and we must remember to contribute to this blessing, to make our brothers and sisters in Christ feel like our brothers and sisters in Christ. The Lord has truly blessed us and we should remember to always be thankful for what we have received.
