God's Grace & the Gospel

God’s Grace and the Gospel of Christ

Grace- Unmerited favor

What is that favor?

Romans 1:16-17, Hab 2:14, Titus 2:11, Ephesians 2:8-9, Ephesians 2:6-7, 1 Cor. 15:1-4

Things equal to the same thing are equal to each other.

Gospel of Christ = the power of God to salvation.

Grace of God = Brings salvation

“For by Grace you have been saved through faith.”  Saved by Grace = the gift of God + Christ’s gospel.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Grace – a gift of God – what is that gift?

Christ’s death on the cross- a gift for our salvation – a God given gift!

John 3:17 “For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Salvation is not Grace plus Faith, but rather is salvation through Faith.

God’s Grace = the Gospel of Christ. Both are included in God’s plan of salvation!

GRACE and MERCY

Mercy and grace are often confused. While the two terms can have similar meanings, grace and mercy are not the same.

Mercy is God not punishing us for our sins.

Grace is God blessing us with salvation despite the fact that we do not deserve it.

Mercy is deliverance from judgement.

Grace is extending kindness to the unworthy.

What is meant when we refer to our hope in Christ Jesus?

Webster defines hope; Desire accompanied by expectation of our belief in fulfillment.

Biblical hope = the anticipation of receiving a promised blessing.
