The Virgin Birth of Jesus

The Virgin Birth of Jesus

We know that Dec 25, is not the actual day of Jesus’ birth. The day doesn’t matter. The fact that He came is something we should rejoice in. During this season, much of the world turns attention to the fact of Jesus, coming to Earth, incarnate, to die for our sins. For many in the world, this is the only time they even consider Jesus and who He was, Is. Note, it was necessary that Jesus come incarnate, because as God He could not die, but as fleshly man, He could and did die for our sins. For this we are thankful and His death, burial and resurrection are what we as Christians are to celebrate and remember, which we do every Lord’s day as we gather around the table for communion. So, let us pause and give thanks for the coming of the Christ child to live a sinless life among men, and give Himself to redeem us.

We, Christians, in His church, should rejoice in this fact of Jesus birth. It is recorded for us in The Gospels of Matthew and Luke, so God intended that we know the particulars and not refuse to study this portion of His written word. We do not have to celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, but we do need to understand the significance of His virgin birth and what it means to us.
