We All Like Sheep, Have Gone Astray

Day 3: Today's theme is sheep.

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned--everyone--to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. he was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth." Isaiah 53:6-7

Jesus knew he had to go through with the crucifixion: suffering and pain, yet he remained silent. He took all of our suffering and sorrows and troubles and silently bore them on the cross.

Humans are compared to sheep, see Psalm 23 for a strong comparison to God as our shepherd. Because we have gotten lost and turned to our own way, God needed to put our sins on Christ so that we can live with him.
